Shoot Vertical and Horizontal at the Same Time (This is How)

Creating videos for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube can feel like a juggling act. Vertical for Reels and Shorts, horizontal for YouTube and websites—it seems like you have to shoot everything twice. But what if you could shoot both formats at once? It’s easier than you think, and it saves you tons of time.

Here’s how:

Center Your Subject: Keep the main focus in the middle so it works for both vertical and horizontal frames.

Check Your Background: Make sure nothing important gets cut off in either format. You can also shoot on the vertical rule of thirds lines.

Step 3, When you go to edit your footage you can create your standard horizontal or 16:9 aspect ratio video.

Because you shot in 4K you can now change the aspect ratio to vertical video or 9:16, and fill the frame without losing any quality.

Next time you plan a shoot, try this method. One take, two formats, double the reach—and no extra effort!
