Behind the Scenes of Shooting A Taste of Sarawak
What you see in the final video is simple: food being cooked, nice close‑up shots, and our talent enjoying the dish.
We usually arrive early to set up our cameras, audio gear, and basic lighting. Most of the time, we’re working in small kitchens or crowded stalls, so space is limited and everyone has to move carefully around hot pans, boiling pots, and busy hands.
Once the cooking starts, things move fast. Steam disappears in seconds, oil splashes, fire flares up, and dishes are plated quickly. We have to be alert all the time to catch the best moments — the stir, the flip, the pour, the final garnish.
After the food is ready, our talent steps in to taste the dish on camera. We keep it natural and simple. No scripts, no acting too much — just honest reactions to the food. Sometimes one take is enough, sometimes we repeat a bit to get the right shot.
A short ads video might look easy to produce, but it actually takes hours of shooting and editing to put everything together.
Simple on screen, busy behind the camera.
And that’s how A Taste of Sarawak is made.
